Types of Stem Cells Available

We can use either adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells harvest from your body or lab-provided Wharton’s jelly-derived mesenchymal stem cells (umbilical cord stem cell). It’s also possible to use both stem cell types, depending on your treatment needs and goals.

The umbilical cord stem cells we use are obtained from newborns by a licensed laboratory with full permission from the family. Wharton’s jelly is the gelatinous tissue of the cord surrounding its vascular structures which contains numerous stem cells. The stem cells are broken down and their healing factors are then prepared, stored, and standardized.

All cord tissue has been tested to make sure that no diseases are present or could be transmitted. It can be injected locally or infused. No negative immune response occurs, since we do not use stem cell cord blood and since the cells are so young. Therefore, the patient will not get antibodies that would prevent rejection of future stem cells or of a transplantation if needed. The stem cells can then be injected into damaged areas or infused throughout the body.

How Do They Work?

Adipose (fatty) tissue has recently emerged as an attractive source for obtaining stem cells because it can be easily collected and is enriched with many different stem cell populations, including mesenchymal stem cells.

Stem cells are found in small numbers in most adult tissues, with a great abundance in bone marrow and fat.
